Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of our beloved Brandan Lucas — a son, brother, husband, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose life touched more people than he probably realized. Though his time with us was brief, the memories he leaves behind will remain with us forever.
Brandan was born on February 8, 1995, and raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he spent his childhood surrounded by family, friendships, and experiences that helped shape the man he would become. He attended Healy Elementary School, Pierce Middle School, and Thurston High School, carrying with him a personality that people naturally gravitated toward — full of humor, energy, and a presence that was always felt.
Seeking a fresh start and a better future, Brandan later moved from Detroit to Las Vegas, Nevada, ready to create a new chapter in his life. Like so many of us, Brandan faced challenges along the way, but through it all he kept moving forward, doing his best to build the life he wanted for himself.
One thing that always remained important to Brandan was family. No matter where life took everyone - holidays, birthdays, and family gatherings were moments that brought everyone back together. Those times were filled with laughter, singing, dancing, old stories, jokes, and memories that now mean even more to all of us who shared them with him.
Anyone who knew Brandan knew he had a spirit that stood out. He loved being around the people he cared about, enjoyed making people laugh, and brought a certain energy that brighten the mood in a room. He enjoyed having fun, making memories, and simply living in the moment.
Recently, Brandan found a special kind of happiness in caring for his beloved cat, Oreo, who quickly became a big part of his everyday life. He loved making TikTok videos with Oreo and sharing the funny moments that reflected his playful side and brought joy not only to him, but to those around him.
On June 17, 2026, our family experienced a loss that words cannot fully explain when Brandan’s life was tragically taken far too soon in a senseless act of violence.
Though we will always carry the pain of losing him, we choose to honor his life—not let tragedy define his story. We remember his laughter, his humor, and the family moments we shared. The holidays spent together, and memories made over years that now feel even more precious.
Brandan leaves behind many people who loved him deeply and who will forever feel the weight of his absence. He is survived by his mother, Yvette Hardy; father, Timothy Lucas; brother, Jordan Braziel; wife, Brandy Lucas; stepson, Chance; grandmothers, Argusta Lucas and Evelyn Hardy; grandfather, Joe Hardy; aunts Shekietha Edwards, Sonya Lucas, and Joann Micou; uncle Dwayne Hardy; along with many additional aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and friends who will carry his memory with them always.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Oscar Lucas, who now welcomes him home in peace.
Brandan’s journey ended far sooner than anyone could have imagined, yet the love we have for him remains unchanged.
He was loved deeply.
He mattered greatly.
And his memory will live with us always.
Rest peacefully, Brandan.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
