Charles Miller Carson, Sr. was born on January 15, 1949, to George and Doris Carson in Goodman, Mississippi. He was the second child of nine children. Charles was baptized at the age of seven at St. Mark’s Baptist Church in Mississippi.
When he moved to Chicago, Illinois, he became an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Charles was a member of the Men’s Fellowship and was well known for cooking peach cobbler every third Sunday, which the members greatly enjoyed.
In 2014, Charles and his family moved to North Las Vegas, Nevada, where they joined Second Baptist Church. He attended regularly and formed many friendships within the church community.
Charles was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses. He, along with his uncle and cousin, owned a lounge in Chicago. Later, Charles started a business building, selling, and repairing computers. In 2000, he decided to attend truck driving school. He later purchased his own truck and started CG Trucking Company.
Charles was patient, loving, considerate, and made many friends throughout his life. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents: George and Doris Carson; his sisters: Tina, Shirley, and Mamie; and his brothers: Eugene, George, and Derry.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Carson; his sons: Vernon Covington and Charles Carson Jr.; his daughters: Crystal Carson and Dr. Cheronda Pinkard; his granddaughters: Jeawa Carson, Chaya Carson, and Jamaia Gary, and his grandsons: Vernon and Verntrell Covington, Charles Najee Carson, Elyja, Isaya, and Josyia Pinkard; great granddaughter Sabrina Covington; his sister Linda; his brother Michael; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
