Cycil Olga White

July 10, 1935 — April 28, 2024

Cycil Olga Piper-White was born on July 10, 1935, in Montserrat, British West Indies to the late Robert and Lilian Piper. On Sunday, April 28, 2024, while at home, Cycil departed this life peacefully in her sleep. She was 88 years old.

Cycil obtained her education in Montserrat. After completing her education, she married Reynold White, who was introduced to her through one of her cousins. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the United States, to reside in Harlem, NY. Together, they raised three beautiful children.

Cycil worked many jobs throughout her lifetime, and was blessed to have retired in the early 1990’s. While in retirement, her favorite hobbies were baking for the church, feeding her friends and family, and knitting hats and scarves for anyone requesting one. Cycil was known as a “tough cookie” and many can attest that she was not one to hold her tongue. Though feisty at times, she had a loving heart and held a deep love for her family, and devoted herself to raising her children to be independent and strong. In recent times, her great-grandchildren brought her immense joy, and watching them grow filled her heart with pure happiness. Whenever they affectionately called her Gigi, it never failed to bring a smile to her face. Her move to Nevada in 2023 was not an impulsive decision, but rather a well-thought-out choice made with utmost care and consideration for her family. She was a strong woman of faith, and trusted God to guide her in this new journey, knowing that it would allow her family to create memories that would be cherished forever. She often said that she looked forward to our monthly family dinners and the spontaneous Thursday evening family gatherings where we all laughed and enjoyed each other’s company.

She is survived by her children: Karen, Duane and Jacqueline; daughter-in-law Sheila; five grandchildren: Christian, Corey, Craig, Shavon, and Byron; three great-grandchildren: Jaisra, Storey, and Josiah. She is also survived by two sisters, Lynn and Jean. She was preceded in death by her other siblings Will, Josephine, Eric, and Rolston. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.
