Daniel Alexander Contave-Hych (Cantave) was born on July 23, 1994, at Sunrise Hospital in Nevada to Carline Cantave and Gregory Hych. He was a parishioner at Grace Community Church most of his childhood and teen years. Daniel attended Pat Diskin Elementary School and Cashman and Grant Sawyer Middle Schools. He went on to Ed W. Clark High School, where he played football for a short time.
Daniel was a fast learner and fun-loving jokester, who loved to keep his family laughing and in high spirits. He had exquisite culinary skills and brought his gastronomic excellence to the Las Vegas restaurant scene, rising to the rank of sous chef at Maggiano’s. He also brought his sparkling personality to the hospitality industry, working at the MGM Grand among other venues in the city.
The NFL football season was a time of great excitement each year for Daniel, who was a big fan of the New England Patriots. When he wasn’t spending time with his best buddies, Daniel also enjoyed video games, movies, and the NBA. He also loved music and produced beats and wrote lyrics for a rap group he was in with a few of his close friends. The group performed at numerous open mics throughout Las Vegas. Most importantly, Daniel was a jovial man with a big heart who was always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone that was lucky enough to be in his orbit.
Daniel Alexander was preceded in death by his grandparents Marie Jeanne and Jean Raphael Cantave and Willie and Retha Hych; stepmother Priscilla Hych; uncles Jean Robert Cantave, Ralph Hych, and Glen Hitson; and aunts Yvenide Cantave, Doris Fay Hitson, and Joyce Ann Rogers.
Daniel Alexander leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Carline (Donald), and father Gregory; grandmother Doris Blanche; brothers Raphael David Cook, Joseph Franklin, Gregory Hych Jr., Gregory Haggar, Gary Hych, Jermaine Hagger, and Donald Blanche Jr.; sisters Toya Blanche and Tonya Blanche; uncles Joel Cantave (Marthe), Glen Blanche (Patricia), and Eric Blanche (Kathy); aunts Gina Cantave (Christopher), Michele Moffett (Jerry), and Allison Turner (Monroe); niece JasiLynn Isabelle; godsister Marinel Balos; and a host of cousins and close friends.
Daniel departed this life much too soon on the morning of August 23, 2025. His electric smile, contagious laugh, and kind spirit will be sorely missed. Fly high, Daniel Alexander, until we see you again.
