Reflections of a Life Well Lived

David Oliver Cole

DAVID OLIVER COLE was born to Lee and Adrena Cole on June 25, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was the eldest of five children.

At the age of nine, David’s parents moved their family from Louisiana to South Central California to pursue better employment opportunities and provide for their young family.

Even at a young age, David knew what he wanted and knew that hard work would allow him to attain whatever it might be.  At the age of 16, he purchased his first car while in attending school and working.  David always had a will to achieve whatever he desired by being self-motivated and self-taught.

Growing up in California David held many jobs but enjoyed construction work the most.  He loved designing something new or making structures better.  David was a man of great work ethics and he instilled that in the people that loved him.

David has always loved the Lord.  There was nothing he loved more than being a good servant for the Lord and being a good steward over what HE gave him.  He reared his children to love the Lord.  Always instilling in them to always do the right thing

David was a caring person always finding a way to help out whenever and wherever needed.  He took joy in caring both for his family and community. He continuously dedicated his time and efforts to his passion to feed the homeless and less fortunate than him.  His contributions also manifested in his relationship with God and the example of the humbleness he displayed to others.

David met the love of his life, Lou Venia in August of 1991, fell in love and 10 months later he married her.  They have been married over 31 years.  Blending their families was no challenge for David and Lou Venia, they LOVE everyone unconditionally.

David was ordained as a Deacon in the church and has been faithful to his calling ever since.  He loved working in the church and serving God. Whatever was needed and wherever he needed to go he would do because he loved doing God’s work.

On May 8, 2023, David joined his father, Lee Cole; his mother, Adrena Cole; (2) sisters, Virginia Waters and Amelia Patterson; daughter, Sharon James; nephew, Lowell Edwards; son-in-law, Eric Gundy; niece, Yvette Johnson; nephew, Mickey Patterson; daughter, Debbie Neill; son-in law, Phillip Moreau.

David is lovingly remembered by his devoted and loving wife, Lou Venia; (5) daughters, Yolanda Evans of Banning, California; Brenda Gundy of San Bernardino, California; Cynthia Moreau, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Larita Lehman (Lon) of Kingman, Arizona; Tirina Blackwell of Las Vegas, Nevada; (2) sons, Tyrone (Denyale) Cole of Las Vegas, Nevada and Anthony (Erika) Travis of Lancaster, California; (2) brothers, Jesus Rahisi Moja; Fredrick Cole of Apple Valley, California and special goddaughter, Renee Miller of Las Vegas, Nevada along with a host of other family, friends, neighbors and church family.
