Geneva (Gigi) Pasley, 85 residing in North Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully on January 29, 1937 surrounded by her loving family.
Geneva was born the 11th child of fourteen children to the late Jink and Amie Pearson on August 29, 1937 in Clanton Alabama.
Her childhood was spent in a home where Christ was the center of their joy which allowed her to, create memories that served well throughout her life. She graduated from Chilton County Training High School upon graduating she married the love of her life Nathaniel (Pat) Pasley. Nathaniel served in the U.S. Army until his retirement. His service offered them an opportunity to leave Alabama and tour the world. Their bond in marriage continued until his death in 2000.
Geneva would often share fond memories of her travels it was during those times she met and established life long bonds of friendship and extended family. After many years of travel Geneva returned to Alabama to continue her career and education. She retired from the State of Alabama government and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Master’s in Theology.
Geneva loved cooking, dancing and having a good time. She found her passion early in life by following in her mother’s footsteps as a pianist. She found solace in playing piano for many over the course of 50 plus years as it was her service to local churches, choirs, and groups, throughout the state of Alabama. She was minister of music at Maggie Street MBC establishing the Maggie Street Choral Ensemble and the I L Forbes Inspirational singers also she was a founding member of the Choralettes a community gospel group. Although she was raised Baptist Geneva was affiliated with various faith-based denominations. She would often say to the family “May the works I’ve done speak for me” As she knew serving God in this manner was what she was called to do.
She was preceded in death by several loved ones this includes her parents Jink and Amie, husband Nathaniel Pasley, all of her siblings, Alma, Velma, Jesse, Julius, Frank, Creasie, Eliza, Bonnie and Beatrice, several in laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews many friends, extended family and a special cousin like aunt Gladys Stone. Surviving and forever cherishing her memory are her siblings’ children- nieces, San, Adrienne (Nene) husband Ken, Vickie husband Calvin who cared for her during the last years. Charlotte, Mardeane, Meta, Paulette, Glenda, Yvette, Diane, Cheryl Lynn, and nephews Van, Mark, Timothy, Larry, Kenny, Brian, Leroy, Patrick, Phillip, Tony, Alphonso, Andy and a special nephew Ken Zeigler the son of her late sister n law Ruby who was like a baby sister to her. Special Cousin Cornelia (Lois) Hunter, Goddaughter Sandranetta Young and her children, sister-in-law Paralee Perkins, friends who kept in touch Virgie Bamberg her friend since 1959 and Rebecca Pickett, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of cousins, close acquaintances and friends. Geneva’s earthly presence will be missed, but never forgotten. She will live in the hearts of those she touched.
