Harold Gaither

June 20, 1929 — February 15, 2024

Harold Gaither was born on June 20, 1929, in the city of Asheville, North Carolina to the late Mr. Pleaz Gaither and Mrs. Mabel Bratton Gaither. He was raised in Asheville with his brother, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and basketball. Harold attended local schools in Asheville, graduating from Stephen Lee High School in 1946.

Harold enlisted into the United States Navy as an apprentice seaman in 1947, which allowed him to tour the world. He met Helen Louise Jordan, a fellow service member, whom he wed in 1952. To this union, two children were born, Harold James Gaither and Jeffrey Gaither. The family was stationed in Morocco, San Diego, and Boston over his twenty years of duty.  Harold received three honorable discharge certificates from the Navy in 1967, at the rank of Senior Chief Storekeeper and was awarded several medals of conduct. After military service, Harold settled his family in Carson, California.

In 1968, Harold embarked on a new career as a Systems Analyst at Lockheed Corporation.  While working, Harold continued his education earning a  Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration at  Lenwood College. He retired from Lockheed in 1982.

Over the years, Harold and Helen relocated to Northern California, Georgia, and placed  final roots in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Harold was known by all to stress the military lifestyle. He surrounded his homes with Navy memorabilia and photos that captured his fondest memories.  He was passionate about his years in service and life experiences. He  emphasized organization, education, and tidiness.

An avid UCLA Bruin fan, Harold enjoyed watching football and basketball games. He cherished his extensive jazz collection and regularly attended concerts and jazz clubs. He enjoyed leisure activities at local casinos, driving his classic car, and viewing old western movies.

Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who will be forever young in our hearts.

Harold is survived by his sons, Harold James Gaither, and Jeffrey Gaither (Lisa Gaither); three grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen Gaither, Brandon Anthony Gaither Sr. (Deja Wright), and Lauren Nicole Gaither (Austin Jones); four great grandchildren, Brandon Anthony Gaither Jr., Malia Noel Jones, Blaise Amir Gaither, and Milan Stacy Jones; sister-in-law, Doris Michaux.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Gaither and brother, Samuel Michaux.
