James Gerald Davey was born on June 8, 1946 in Valentine, NE to Nadine Wickman Davey and James Francis Davey. He passed away on August 21, 2025 in Henderson, NV at the age of 79. He is still known as Jimmy Davey to his many Gravette friends (and Jim Davey to others).

In 1953 Jim moved to Gravette, AR with his mom and 2 older sisters. He graduated in 1965 from Gravette High School, where he played varsity football, basketball and was his sophomore class vice president. After high school he moved to Tulsa, OK and worked for Hillcrest Hospital before moving back to Gravette, AR.

He married Marceline (Marcy) Scantlin on June 7, 1968 and together they were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters, Deena & Mendi, who were his pride and joy.  Jim & Marcy soon moved to Las Vegas, NV for Jim to pursue a career in gaming and later welcomed the birth of their oldest daughter Deena. They then moved back to Gravette, AR to be near family and friends and soon thereafter celebrated the birth of their youngest daughter Mendi.

Jim worked for Dunhall Pharmaceuticals, served in the Army National Guard and was also elected Mayor of Gravette. They later moved back to Las Vegas to resume his career in gaming.

On July 20, 1987 Jim married Jan Gambino and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage together until his death. Jim loved watching birds, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper outside on the patio each morning. It was there he would also enjoy a daily phone conversation with his mom, Nadine McLaughlin (to get updates on family and hometown friends).  He also loved watching sports and Fox News on television from his favorite recliner and with his beloved dog Pewter almost always by his side.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Jim F. Davey and stepmother Mary Davey, his mother Nadine McLaughlin and stepfather Ray McLaughlin, his sister Jeri Whitten, and infant brother Arthur.

He is survived by his wife Jan Davey; his daughter Deena Coburn of Ward, AR; his daughter Mendi Jordan of Benton, AR; his stepson Joe Gambino of Conroe, TX; 4 grandchildren - Maddison Coburn, Jona Jordan and Gabe Jordan, Aubreanna Gambino; and siblings - Jaylene Fields of Williamsburg, VA; Christi Knies of Fayetteville, AR; Kirk Davey of Las Vegas, NV; Anita Orchin of Longview, WA; Beverly Goforth of Longview, WA.

In lieu of sending flowers, please consider signing the online guestbook and share a funny story or special memory you have with Jim that memorializes his character and personality. The family would greatly cherish reading each and every one.

Jim will be missed deeply, never forgotten and loved forever. A graveside memorial service will be held in the future in Gravette, AR.
