Jamie Marie Smith was born July 10, 1976 to Nancy Turner and James Arthur “ Butch” Smith Sr. in Portland, Oregon as the third of five children. She began her early childhood education in Portland and later continued her studies in California, where her energetic personality and love for people continued to shine. Before making Las Vegas her home, Jamie attended Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon, where her faith and devotion to family shaped the foundation of her life. After settling in Las Vegas, Jamie became a part of the UPS family until her passing. Her unwavering love for people and genuine care for others earned her the affectionate nickname “Auntie” to so many lives that she touched.
Jamie embraced life wholeheartedly and never missed a chance to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. She loved watching her favorite TV shows to include—Big Brother, Survivor and anything from the Power universe. Her laughter and lively spirit could fill any room, always living life to the fullest. Above all, Jamie treasured her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her “Precious Baby” and “Lil Baby”. Her vibrant energy and gift for making everyone feel welcomed created memories that will be cherished forever. One thing for certain, she loved being outside, whether it was a good road trip, a special event, a concert or a reggaefest. If there was music, family and a good vibe, she always had a good time. Most recently, she celebrated her birthday by taking her first cruise. Her legacy of love and unforgettable memories will continue to live on in all of us.
On August 10, 2026, Jamie transitioned into eternal rest. She was welcomed with open arms by her beloved mother, Nancy Turner and her father, James “Butch Smith, Sr., who preceded her in death.
Jamie leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate the life she lived, her sons, Jarrett (Rebecca) Johnson from Savannah, Georgia, James Watkins of Las Vegas and Ja’Shaun Johnson of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by her grandsons, Jasiah, Julian and Jordie; her granddaughters, Jayda and Jaylee; her brothers, Deangelo Turner and James Smith, Jr.; her sisters; Shanta Turner and Tonda Smith; her special friend, Alex Girtmon and her bonus children, Tae Johnson, Lil Randy Johnson, MyQuiela Johnson, TriShaun Johnson, Trevon Turner and Damareae Luster. She is lovingly remembered by her special cousins, Janelle And Andre Cyrus, Kimberly Davis and Yolanda Williams, her favorite uncle, Bobby Davis; her favorite niece and hairstylist Shalonte Crawford; her best friend, Frances Randall, and a host of extended family of friends.
Though our hearts now hold a void, we find comfort in knowing that we will see her again.
