Katherine (Katie) Kreuzer, daughter of William Kreuzer and Mary (Pete) Gusewelle Kreuzer, sister of Fritz, Ted and Nita Kreuzer. Born on November 4, 1946, deceased November 7, 2025, Katie was a lifelong Las Vegas resident. She graduated from Western High School in 1965 and worked until retirement in elementary education and child day care. She also volunteered for many years with Special Olympics. There was an extra-special place in her heart for special needs children, as Katie dealt with cerebral palsy herself. She never let it stop her from activities she loved, like riding her bike all over Las Vegas (including to the Las Vegas Strip to bowl or play bingo), or taking the bus or walking miles to her craft stores or friends’ homes.
Katie’s outgoing and caring nature earned her many cherished and lifelong friendships. Several of those friends, and family, visited with Katie in her care home these last months, and shared their love for her amidst her struggles with health issues and dementia.
In many ways, Katie was a ‘miracle child’, as she beat the odds to learn to walk, talk, attend school and graduate, and even lived independently for some years. If you knew her, you were familiar with her ‘determined face’, her dedication to children, her social butterfly reputation, and her love of the Catholic Church.
Katie passed peacefully in hospice with COPD after a severe bout of pneumonia. We are beyond grateful for the loving care provided by Fatima, Monty and Ms. D, who became our family during the three months Katie was in their home. They made Katie’s time happy, safe and comfortable beyond expectations.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Fritz. She is survived by Ted (Sue) and Nita, her extended family, and more friends than we can count.
No service will be held. Donations in Katie’s name can be made to Meals-on-Wheels, Catholic Charities, or any charity of choice.
