Kim Renae Theus was born on January 4, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Erma Lee Parker and Walter Thomas Theus. She attended Matt Kelly Elementary School and graduated from Eldorado High School. As a child, Kim and her cousins attended Zion Methodist Church…Pastor Marion Bennett, where they sang in the youth choir. Singing and dancing were among her greatest joys, and she had an incredible voice. Kim, along with her cousins Keith and DeEvra, spent countless hours practicing songs and dance moves under the guidance of Auntie Merline. Kim was also known for her skills as a kitchen beautician, though her clients, especially her sister and cousins, might remember her heavy-handedness with a mix of fondness and humor.
Kim was blessed with two children, Alexis Jolly-McIver and Xavier Jolly. As a single parent, she faced many challenges but overcame them with strength and determination. Her personal struggles, including overcoming addiction, shaped her life's purpose. Kim held various jobs, but her true passion was being a Home Health Care provider which led to her establishing her own business transforming lives. This role gave her a new sense of direction and fulfillment, allowing her to use her experiences to help her clients lead drug-free lives. Last year, Kim proudly celebrated 27 years of sobriety.
In October 2024, unfortunately, Kim became very ill. Despite the family's hopes for her recovery when she entered a rehabilitation center, God replaced her pain and suffering with His Peace. During her time at the rehab center, she was surrounded by love, visitors, favorite foods, flowers, and laughter. The family cherishes the extra time they had with Kim, especially celebrating Christmas and her 66th birthday on January 4th. These moments and memories will be treasured forever.
Kim is survived by her mother, Erma Lee Johnson; her brother, Walter Theus; her sister, Karen Robertus; her daughter, Alexis Jolly-McIver; her son, Xavier Jolly; and her grandchildren, Anniya Jolly, Akeylees Walden, Zion Micol Jolly, Destin Williams, Xavier Jolly Jr., Kyla Jolly, Keith Jolly, Lavell Jolly, and Logan Michael McIver. She also leaves behind her Aunt Merline Rapley, first cousins Keith Knight and DeEvra Wilson, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other cherished relatives and friends.
Special acknowledgements go to her close friends Beverly Thomas and Angela Gerard, and cousin Adranne Jones, who provided support during Kim’s hospital stay. They were our hospital Angels. The family extends their gratitude to all the cousins and friends who offered prayers, encouragement, love, and support during this difficult time. Thank you all for loving Kim and for coming together to celebrate her life.
