Lavonne Lewis Burch

March 17, 1954 — January 3, 2026

Lavonne Lewis was born on March 17, 1954, to Charles and Earnestine Lewis. She was the fifth of nine children and was raised in a home rooted in love, family, and faith. Lavonne graduated from high school and was blessed with two children, Charon and Earnestine McMichael, whom she loved deeply and proudly.

In 1977, Lavonne moved to California, where she later married her husband, Michael Burch. While in California, she furthered her education by earning an Associate of Arts degree and dedicating many years of service to the Los Angeles County Board of Education, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.

Lavonne eventually made her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. On January 3, 2026, she peacefully answered the Lord’s call and entered eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved children, Charon and Earnestine McMichael; her bonus child, Naykomi Cole, whom she lovingly raised as her own; and her siblings, Annie Mae Williams, Diane Lamb, Lucille Humphery, and Gwendolyn Holmes. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Charles Lewis Jr., Alma Carpenter, Bobby Lewis, and Patricia Cooper.

Lavonne also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Marcasia Day, Kalauni Keyes, and Chadawn McMichael, along with her bonus grandchildren, Malaysia Wynn, Laron Dolly, and Toi Harrison. She will be lovingly remembered by her favorite niece, Drew Lamb, and Drew’s children, Greyson, Amont’e, and Ah’dor, as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Lavonne had a heart big enough to love many, and she was deeply loved in return.  Though not all can be named, she held each one close—you know who you are.
