Known for a spirit that never dimmed, a resilience of unwavering strength and a quiet endurance, Marily Elizabeth McBride Vargas, has passed away. Born February 27th,1952, in Medon, Tennessee, the third child of Wilford and Catherine McBride, who have preceded her in death, grew up with a curiosity for the world and loved sports of any kind. Throughout her youth, Marilyn was affectionately called “Boo, Boo”.
Marilyn graduated and completed her undergrad studies at the University of Memphis, Tennessee. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Communications at the University of Las Vegas. She was previously employed by Centel Telephone Company and worked at the Las Vegas Clark County School District.
“Boo, Boo” loved people, and was unapologetically honest when telling anyone what was on her mind. She fought for the “underdog” discussing world issues and optimism on how to it a better place. She was an excellent cook and possessed a tenacity throughout her life’s journey, remaining steadfast with the ability of a generous nature reflecting every chapter of her life. She had the gift to find joy even in small things, her will, vigor and laughter is a reminder of happiness that can exist even through difficult times.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Troy McBride and her youngest sister, Gwendolyn Nell McBride Mitchell. She is survived by her two sons, Ricardo Vargas, Chehalis, Washington, Reshard Vargas and stepdaughter, Shannon Vargas of Las Vegas, NV . Her three grandchildren, Seven, DeWees and Marlee. Her eldest sister, Linda Kaye McBride Chapman (James), niece, N. Chapman, nephew, M. Chapman and niece, Sonji L. Mitchell, of Las Vegas, NV. Her last surviving aunt, out of 13 children on her father’s side, Aunt Ann, her “crew” of double-first McBride cousins, “special double first cousin, “Lu, Lu”, cousins, family and friends.
We as her family, were so glad to have “Boo, Boo” a part of our lives. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. I as her sister, “Lindy” as she would call me, told her to keep God first while in the hospital and doctors said she was a “miracle lady” and watched “The 700 Club” before her passing on November 18th, 2025.
