Marjorie Peoples was born (Patricia Ann) on October 7, 1940, in Shreveport LA to Melvin and Bessie Colvin. She legally changed her name to Marjorie when she became an adult and was affectionately known as “Monk” by family and friends. She had seven siblings three sisters Catherine, Arzelle, and Freddie Mae, and four brothers Cornell, Melvin Lee Otis, and John. The family moved to California when she was a young child where she received her early education until both parents passed when she was just 14 years old.
Her aunt and uncle from Seattle, Washington took her in and cared for her until she graduated from high school. In 1959 at the age of 19 she married Billie Joe Peoples. She moved back to California in 1966 where she lived for many years. She had nine children, Eric and Joyce (twins), Mary, Christina, Donna and Alan (twins), Jimmie and Lisa (twins) and James.
Marjorie accepted Christ as her savior and joined Harvest Tabernacle Church in Los Angeles, CA where she worshipped faithfully and served as an usher. She could always be seen walking to church with all her children on Sunday mornings. She worked odd jobs but mostly dedicated her time to raising her children.
She relocated to Las Vegas, NV in 2008 where she actively joined the workforce. She worked as a supervisor in retail for several years until she was injured on the job and had to retire. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her best friend Miss Lorraine who preceded her in death.
