In Loving Memory of Maurice Andre Trotter

Maurice Andre Trotter was born on October 31,1965, at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Mona Renee Johnson and Robert Earl Brewer. Maurice departed this life on June 22, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and a family who will forever carry him in their hearts.

In 1976, Maurice relocated from Las Vegas to California with his mother, Mona, following a job opportunity that opened a new chapter in their lives. During his high school years, Maurice attended Manual Arts High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He later attended Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, where his natural interest in business and entrepreneurship was already beginning to take shape. While at Fairfax, Maurice was a member of the Entrepreneurial Club, and he proudly graduated from Fairfax High School with the Class of 1983.

From a young age, Maurice possessed an independent and entrepreneurial spirit. As a young man, he took on the responsibility of managing three bars connected to the family business. This early experience helped develop the business-minded, hardworking, and resourceful man he would become.

Throughout his life, Maurice was never afraid of hard work or trying something new. He pursued several entrepreneurial ventures, including party equipment rentals and automobile detailing & mechanic shop. He also attended real estate school, worked professionally for Sparkletts, Citizens Area Transit just to name a few. Maurice spent time on the road as an experienced truck driver operating 18-wheelers. His many different pursuits reflected a man who was always willing to learn, work, and find a way to provide for himself and his family.

Maurice also had a genuine passion for cooking. Cooking gave him another opportunity to use his creativity and talents while doing something he truly enjoyed. Later in life, he put that passion to use by assisting his sister, Tosha, with catering on movie sets and commercials. It was yet another example of Maurice's willingness to work with his hands, help his family, and turn the things he enjoyed into something productive.

Family was an important part of Maurice's life. He shared special bonds with his siblings, Tosha Johnson-Williams and Shawn Johnson and the experiences they shared throughout their lives became part of the story and legacy of the Johnson-Trotter family.

Anyone who truly knew Maurice knew about his passion for cars and fixing things. He enjoyed working with his hands, figuring out how things worked, and finding solutions. Whether it involved a vehicle, a business idea, cooking a meal, or something that simply needed to be repaired, Maurice had the type of personality that made him want to figure it out for himself.

Maurice certainly knew how to find a bargain. He was always looking for the best deal and rarely wanted to spend more money than he believed something was worth. If there was a better price somewhere, Maurice was determined to find it. It was one of the many qualities that made him uniquely himself—resourceful, determined, practical, and always looking for a way to make things happen.

Maurice also had a unique and unforgettable sense of humor. His comedic personality, expressions, stories, and way of looking at life could bring laughter to the people around him. He had a personality all his own, and those who truly knew him will remember not only what Maurice did throughout his life, but also how he could make people laugh and the memories created simply by being in his presence.

Above all, Maurice was a father.

He was blessed with six children: Jermaine Trotter, Martelle Trotter, Breauna Trotter- Nieves (Anthony), Javonta Gaillard, Tiffany Trotter, and Kimberly Burch. 3 Bonus sons DeVante Hollimon, James Alexander III and Deandre Tyler. He loved his children, and each of them carries a part of their father with them. The lessons, experiences, conversations, laughter, and memories they shared with Maurice are pieces of his life that will continue long after his passing.

Maurice was preceded in death by his mother, Mona Renee Johnson; his grandmother, Mary Lee Turner; his grandfathers, Bernard Turner and Tecumsey Johnson; his great-grandmother, Denotria Johnson; and his aunt, Dorothy Dexter.

He leaves to cherish his memory his six beloved children, Jermain Trotter, Martelle Trotter, Breauna Nieves (Anthony), Javonta Gaillard, Tiffany Trotter, and Kimberly Burch; his siblings, Tosha Johnson- Williams, Shawn Johnson, and Deon Fincher a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, many other loved ones, and friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

Maurice lived a life filled with many chapters. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, entrepreneur, businessman, truck driver, cook, car enthusiast, problem-solver, and a hardworking man with a comedic personality that could never be duplicated.

His journey began in Las Vegas, continued in Los Angeles, and carried him through many different experiences, careers, businesses, challenges, accomplishments, and adventures. Through it all, Maurice remained Maurice—always thinking, always working, always searching for the next opportunity, always looking for that bargain, and always finding a way to leave people with a story to tell.

While his physical presence is no longer with us, the pieces of Maurice that he gave to those he loved remain.

They live in his children.

They live in his grandchildren.

They live in his brother and sister.

They live in the stories that will continue to be told, the meals and memories shared, the lessons he taught, the laughter he created, and the moments that time can never erase.

Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the 60 years of life, family, personality, hard work, and memories that Maurice Andre Trotter gave to this world.

Maurice Andre Trotter will be deeply loved, greatly missed, and forever remembered.

Life is short, but love is forever. May his memory continue to live through everyone who knew and loved him.
