Rodney Morocco Nelson

Rodney Morocco Nelson was the third child born to Napoleon and Dorothy M. Nelson (preceded in death) on August 17, 1956, in Marion, Alabama.

 At an early age, Rodney accepted Christ. Rodney united with New Birth Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Pemalton. He participated in church activities and functions. As a young child he would practice preaching in front of family and friends, the family thought for sure he was going to be a minister.

 Rodney attended MaClay Junior High School and Sylmar High School with emphasis in baseball and other sports. After high school, he transitioned to various jobs that supported his interest.

 Rodney’s hobbies and passion was his love for baseball and bodybuilding. He was best known for having the best “physique in the San Fernando Valley”. He played at Fillmore Park and other local parks.

 Rodney was very popular among his friends, creating lifelong friendships and bonds within the community. He endured his sickness with a smile. He knew his end was near, but he never complained. Rodney fought a good fight, he has finished the course, he kept the faith.

 Rodney will be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters: Clarice Nelson Taylor (Raynaldo), Katy, TX; Tamara Lison, Brenham, TX; son: Sky Morocco Nelson (precede in death) sisters: Sandra M Billingslea (Larry), Sylmar, CA; Evelyn (Judy) Collins (Milbert, Jr), Sylmar, CA; Cathy (Tina) Stevenson (Carlos) Las Vegas, NV; and Pamela (Pam) Nelson, Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren: Robert Griffin; Skylar Mon’et Taylor; Chayce Kash Taylor; Summer Reign Taylor; Damon Roshod Mcgregor, Jr.; aunts: Frances L. Johnson, Pacoima, CA; Berdia M. Nelson, Marion, AL., Phenomenal Friends: James Brignac, Santa Clarita, CA, Cinthia Brookins, Pacoima, CA., Robert Oliver, Maricopa, AZ., and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
