Rogers William Lynch III

April 24, 1942 — October 9, 2024

Rogers Williams Lynch III went to rest with the Lord October 9th, 2024. He was born April 24, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Rogers Williams Lynch ll and Mabel Lynch (Johnson) both preceding him in death. He was the youngest of 4 with 3 older sisters. His sisters, Vehra Waller (Chicago), Melba Collard (Las Vegas - deceased) and Connie Williams (Chicago - deceased). Melba and Connie died less than a year ago one week apart.

Rogers lived in Chicago until middle school and then moved to Hopkins Park, Illinois with his family in 1952 where he attended and graduated from high school. He has had many family nicknames, he was fondly called “Brother” by the family until young adulthood because he was the youngest and the only brother. He was also fondly called “Uncle Riley” because his nephew Tyler could not say “Rogers” when he was younger and would call him “Uncle Riley”. This name sort of stuck and became our nickname for him in Las Vegas. Tyler and Uncle Rogers had a close relationship, Tyler was his ring bearer at his wedding. He was married to Tina in 1994, and she was with Rogers when he transitioned. Rogers had two children from previous relationships one son with Renee Ellis, Rogers Williams Lynch lV (Renee) and one daughter with Pamela Richards, Angelica LaSean Lynch-Fontenot (Hurvie) (both Angelica and her husband Hurvie are deceased), 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Rogers’s IV children are Rogers Lynch V, Destini Lynch, Amanda Lynch, Joshua Lynch, Jeremiah Lynch, Nanami Lynch, and Leilani Lynch. Angelica’s children are Alexus Swanson, Arimon Lynch Fortenot, Ayana Fortenot, Hymon Fortenot, Hymoni Fortenot, Hurvie Fortenot and Ashana Fortenot (deceased). He loved his grandkids dearly and they loved him, they fondly called him “Paw Paw”. Great grandchild (Alexus)- Aaron Burley Jr.

Rogers devoted his life to God and Christ. Rogers was a late bloomer going through many trials and tribulations as a yout and as a young man before completely and totally devoting himself to God and Christ. Rogers retired from Harmon Construction Company and the Teamster Union to devote himself full time to studying and his ministry. He ministered at the New Revelation Baptist Church, St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Sandy Valley Baptist Church and Twin Lakes Baptist Church all in the Las Vegas area.

Rogers leaves his son Roger IV, his older and only remaining sister Vehra and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins, he was well loved and will be truly missed by his Las Vegas, Chicago, and Los Angeles families. He will be greatly missed by a host of many dear friends and family especially those that were with him during his final journey- Jimmy, Tina, Carl, Felicia, Charlotte including his nieces Earlena and Alta and his great niece Jessica, He always held Pastor Norman Lourenco and his family in high esteem and close to heart. The Lynch family appreciates the love and support provided to Rogers by Pastor Norman, Pastor Adams and their families and the Twin Lakes family. The family would also like to thank everyone at L & J Group Home Care that took very good care of Rogers prior to and during his final journey.
