Shawn Edward Marple, affectionately known to many as "Goofy," was born on November 28, 1980, in Davenport, Iowa. Born weighing only six pounds, he grew into a 6'2" man with a heart even larger than his stature. He spent his early years in Iowa surrounded by a large family of cousins, aunts, and uncles. Moving to Las Vegas in 1992. He attended Western High School, where he formed deep, lasting friendships that remained strong throughout his life.
Shawn was a devoted father to his daughter, Kayleigh, whom he loved very much. To those who knew him, he was the sweetest young man—a gentle soul who loved everyone and always stood up for those being picked on.
A gifted artist from a young age, drawing was Shawn’s passion and his peace. His talent was recognized early on when he won a contest for Lowrider Art magazine; his illustration of a lowrider was featured alongside the then-new Luxor Hotel. Whether he was drawing on his schoolwork or sketching bodybuilders at the gym, his ability to capture a likeness was remarkable.
Shawn was a man of many interests, from practicing karate and watching wrestling with his mother to his meticulous care for his favorite clothes and shoes. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a quiet strength. Even in his final days at Nathan Adelson Hospice, where the nurses fondly called him "Pooh-face," he remained kind and never complained.
Shawn passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026. He was a man of faith who knew God and faced the end with bravery and a smile. He is survived by his mother, Roseanna, and his daughter, Kayleigh. He will be deeply missed by his family, his lifelong friends, and his friends who have a piece of art on them.
