Virginia “Dale” Marshall was born on a warm summer day, July 18, 1958, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Virginia Marshall and Clyde Johnson. She was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Aquilla and Charlie Finks, alongside her great-grandmother, Josie Johnson, in a home rooted in faith and strong Christian values. From an early age, Dale’s spiritual foundation was nurtured at Cox Upper Room Pentecostal Holiness Church, under the leadership of the late Bishop Clyde Carson Cox.
Dale received her education through the Clark County School District (CCSD), where she built lasting friendships and developed a love for learning. Throughout her life, she worked diligently in various jobs across the greater Las Vegas area, always bringing her warm spirit and strong work ethic to everything she did.
Beyond her work, Dale found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gathering with family and friends to play cards and dominoes, where her competitive nature and quick wit often shined. She had a passion for cooking and, just as much, for savoring a good meal. Dale also had a playful and confident side, she liked to say she had some dance moves and could carry a tune, bringing laughter and lighthearted moments to those around her. Her vibrant personality and love for life left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Later in life, Dale rededicated herself to her Christian faith and became a devoted member of Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Welton T. Smith III. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength, comfort, and a sense of purpose.
At Greater Evergreen, Dale found a spiritual home where she could worship, serve, and uplift others. She was a dedicated member of the church’s Nurse’s Board, offering her kindness and care to those in need. Whether helping during services or offering a reassuring presence to fellow members, she took great pride in serving her church community. She remained active in her role until her health began to decline, yet her unwavering faith never wavered. Dale’s love for God and her church family remained steadfast, and she continued to find peace in her faith throughout her journey.
Dale leaves to cherish her memories son, George DeAundra Johnson Jr., daughter and son-in-law, Anetra and Cory Price, and 4 grandchildren, Ziyon White, Kortell Price, Ashanti Price and George DeAundra Johnson III. A host of cousins, two special friends who were more like sisters, Denise Mitchell, Martha Robertson and extended family The Fox’s, Thompson’s and the Owen’s family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, her grandmother, her two uncles, Charles and James Marshall and the cousin that couldn’t sleep without her Yvonne “Tiny” Givens.
