Douglas was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on September 24th, 1973, to Granville L. and Ellen W. Brown. In his childhood, he enjoyed sports, playing football, track, baseball, and basketball. Doug graduated from Milan Area Schools with a high school diploma.

Harold Gaither was born on June 20, 1929, in the city of Asheville, North Carolina to the late Mr. Pleaz Gaither and Mrs. Mabel Bratton Gaither. He was raised in Asheville with his brother, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and basketball. Harold attended local schools in Asheville, graduating from Stephen Lee High School in 1946.
